Ramp vs Bill.com pricing: Bill.com vs Ramp cost per user, Ramp bill pay pricing and fees per payment

Ramp vs Bill.com pricing comes down to where the charge sits. BILL charges for the accounts payable software, $49, $65 or $89 per user per month on its Essentials, Team and Corporate plans, then charges per payment on top. Ramp charges nothing for bill pay on its free plan and publishes almost the same per-payment fees, which it waives when you pay from a Ramp checking account. So Ramp is usually cheaper on paper. Whether it is cheaper for you depends on your accounting system, your payment mix and whether you will bank and carry cards with Ramp.

Start with the part most comparison articles get wrong. Several of the pages that rank for this search quote BILL Essentials at $45 per user, and some say Ramp charges no transaction fees at all. BILL's pricing page lists Essentials at $49, Team at $65 and Corporate at $89 per user per month, with Enterprise quoted. Ramp's bill pay page lists $0.59 for a standard ACH payment, $1.99 for a mailed check, $10 for same-day ACH, $15 for a domestic wire, $20 for an international USD wire and $20 for overnight check delivery. BILL lists $0.59 for ACH and $1.99 for a check too. On the two payment types most US businesses use most, the list fees are identical.

The differences are in the plan lines. BILL Essentials connects to QuickBooks Online and Xero only through manual CSV import and export; automatic two-way sync starts on Team at $65. BILL's Invoice Coding Agent, which codes multi-line bills to GL accounts, also starts on Team. Custom approval policies and discounts for approver-only users are on Corporate. Oracle NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Acumatica and QuickBooks Enterprise sync only on BILL Enterprise, which has no published price. Ramp's free plan includes invoice capture with AI-powered OCR, approval rules and routing, mobile bill approvals, automated card payments and QuickBooks Online and Xero integrations. Ramp Plus, $15 per user per month plus a platform fee based on team size, adds automated batch payments, line-item auto-coding from its AP agent, payment release approvals, three-way matching and NetSuite and Sage Intacct.

Here is what that means for a real payables month. Take a US company with three people touching AP in QuickBooks Online, paying 200 vendor bills a month: 150 standard ACH payments, 40 mailed checks, 8 same-day ACH payments and 2 international USD wires, with 40 vendors needing a 1099 at year end. On BILL Team, software is 3 users at $65, or $195 a month. The payments cost $88.50 for ACH, $79.60 for checks, $95.92 for 8 Pay Faster ACH payments at $11.99 and $39.98 for 2 international USD wires at $19.99, which is $304.00 a month. Add 40 IRS e-filed 1099s at $2.99, or $119.60. That is about $6,108 a year.

The same month on Ramp's free plan, paying from an outside bank account, costs $0 for software and $88.50, $79.60, $80 for same-day ACH at $10 and $40 for two SWIFT USD wires at $20, which is $288.10 a month. The 1099s are $0.65 each, or $26. That is about $3,483 a year, roughly $2,600 less than BILL Team. If the same payments go out of a Ramp checking account, Ramp waives the eligible fees (overnight checks and check attachments are still charged), and the payables line falls close to zero.

That gap is real, but it is not free money. Ramp's pricing page opens every plan, including Free, with its corporate charge card, and the free bill pay is part of a platform built around Ramp cards and Ramp banking. If your company keeps a bank relationship it depends on for a credit line, or pays vendors from an operating account it has no plan to move, the fee waiver does not apply and the saving shrinks to the software line and the cheaper same-day ACH and 1099 fees.

The accounting system changes the answer more than any fee. On QuickBooks Online or Xero, Ramp Free syncs at $0, while BILL needs Team at $65 per user for automatic sync. On NetSuite or Sage Intacct, you are comparing Ramp Plus at $15 per user plus an unpublished platform fee against a BILL Enterprise quote, and neither number is on a web page. Get both quotes in writing, and ask each vendor to count users the same way: BILL prices AP users and discounts approver-only users on Corporate, while Ramp prices Plus per user on the platform, so ask whether cardholders who never open a bill count toward the bill.

BILL wins in places Ramp does not try to. BILL is accounts payable and accounts receivable in one product: you can send customer invoices, set up automatic payment reminders and get paid by ACH or card on the same plan. Ramp's pricing page lists no receivables plan. BILL's vendor network also matters if many of your suppliers already get paid through BILL, and its free Spend and Expense product gives you cards and budgets at $0 per user if you want the card side separately. International wires in foreign currency are free on BILL, with the exchange rate applied. And a company that does not want its card program, its bank account and its payables with one fintech has a reason to keep them apart.

Ramp wins on the cost of standing still. At $0 per user it includes invoice OCR, approvals and QuickBooks or Xero sync that BILL charges $65 per user for, its same-day ACH is $10 against BILL's $11.99 Pay Faster ACH, and its 1099 filing is $0.65 against $2.99 per IRS filing. If you will move card spend and banking to Ramp, it is the cheaper way to pay vendors, and we would rather say so plainly.

Expenditure is the option when you want the coding and approval work done without moving your payments or your cards anywhere. We read each supplier invoice and receipt, code it to the right GL account from the context around it, check it against your policy, route it for approval and sync one clean record into QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite. Payment then goes out the way it does today, from your bank, from QuickBooks bill pay or from whatever payables tool you already use. We never move or hold your money. We also watch spend across every card, vendor and subscription and flag duplicate tools, unused seats and price creep.

Expenditure costs $20, $35 or $55 per seat per month billed yearly, with no per-payment fee and no platform fee. For three AP users on Growth, which includes approvals, policy checks and budgets, that is $864 a year. We are bank-grade secure with role-based access, and we never sell or train on your financial data. This is software and insight, not financial, tax or accounting advice, and your finance team makes every call.

Why it works

What to settle before you choose Ramp or BILL for payables

Keep your bank and cards

Ramp is cheapest when you bank and carry cards with Ramp. Expenditure runs on the bank accounts and Visa and Mastercard cards you already have, so the payment side stays where it is.

No per-payment meter

We charge per user, billed annually. There is no fee per ACH, check or wire, because we never move money. Your bank or bill pay tool does that.

We say where they win

Ramp wins on price if you will adopt its card and checking. BILL wins if you need receivables in the same product. We win when you want invoices and receipts coded and approved without switching banks.

What it handles

A receipt in, a categorized line out, the waste flagged

Expenditure reads each receipt, categorizes it, checks it against your policy and rolls it into real-time spend, then surfaces the duplicate subscriptions and savings you are leaking.

  • Reads supplier invoices and receipts and codes each line to the right GL account
  • Routes approvals and checks every expense against your policy
  • Syncs clean records into QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite
  • Runs on the bank and cards you already have, with no switch
  • Flags duplicate subscriptions, unused seats and price creep

Why Expenditure

Receipts read, spend categorized, waste flagged

Not manual coding, not a stale spreadsheet. Expenditure reads each receipt, checks your policy, shows real-time spend, and flags the savings, all on the cards and banks you already have.

Read and categorized

Snap, forward or drop a receipt. The AI reads the vendor, amount, tax and line items, categorizes it and matches the card, in seconds.

Waste flagged

Duplicate and overlapping subscriptions, unused tools, price creep and out-of-policy spend, surfaced in real time with the potential saving.

Secure and in your control

Bank-grade security, we never move or hold your money, and we never train on your data. Insights, not advice, your finance team decides.

Good questions

Questions about Ramp vs Bill.com pricing

Usually, yes. Ramp includes bill pay, invoice OCR, approvals and QuickBooks Online or Xero sync on its $0 plan, while BILL charges $49 to $89 per user per month for AP. Standard ACH and check fees are the same on both at $0.59 and $1.99. The gap widens further if you pay from a Ramp checking account, where eligible fees are waived.
BILL lists Essentials at $49, Team at $65 and Corporate at $89 per user per month for accounts payable and receivable, with Enterprise custom priced. Payment fees are extra: $0.59 per ACH, $1.99 per mailed check, $11.99 for Pay Faster ACH and $19.99 for an international USD wire. BILL Spend and Expense is $0 per user.
Ramp Bill Pay is on the free plan with no monthly software fee. Per-payment fees are $0.59 for standard ACH, $1.99 for a mailed check, $10 for same-day ACH, $15 for a domestic wire and $20 for an international USD wire. Paying from a Ramp checking account waives the eligible fees. 1099 filing is $0.65 per IRS filing.
For accounts payable, often yes: Ramp covers invoice capture, approvals, vendor payments and 1099s on its free plan. It does not replace BILL's accounts receivable side. If you send customer invoices and collect payments through BILL, moving AP to Ramp leaves you needing a separate receivables tool.
Ramp is the better buy for a company on QuickBooks Online or Xero that will use Ramp cards and banking and wants AP at $0. BILL is the better buy for a company that needs payables and receivables in one product, pays many suppliers already on the BILL network, or wants to keep its bank and card programs separate from its AP tool.
No. BILL Essentials works with QuickBooks Online, Pro and Premier and with Xero only through manual CSV import and export. Automatic two-way sync starts on Team at $65 per user per month. QuickBooks Enterprise, NetSuite and Sage Intacct sync on BILL Enterprise, which is custom priced.
Neither publishes a complete number. Ramp puts NetSuite on Plus at $15 per user per month plus a platform fee based on team size. BILL puts NetSuite sync on Enterprise, which is quoted. Ask both for a written quote using the same user count before you compare.
Yes, for bill payments from an outside bank: $0.59 per ACH, $1.99 per check, $10 per same-day ACH, $15 per domestic wire and $20 per international USD wire. Pages that say Ramp has no transaction fees are describing payments made from a Ramp checking account, where eligible fees are waived.
Yes. BILL lists Spend and Expense at $0 per user per month with corporate cards, budgets and expense tracking, and credit lines from $1,000 to $5 million subject to approval. It is a separate product from BILL's paid accounts payable plans.
A small business on QuickBooks Online paying fewer than a few hundred bills a month will usually spend less on Ramp Free than on BILL Team. Pick BILL if you also invoice customers through it, or if you want AP without adopting a new card and bank.
Yes. Expenditure reads each invoice and receipt, codes it to the right GL account, checks policy and routes approval, then syncs a clean record into QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite. Payments go out from the bank or bill pay tool you already use, for $20, $35 or $55 per seat per month billed yearly.
