Airwallex pricing in the US has three plans. Explore costs $0 per user per month and includes up to 10 Spend users. The detail that decides most Airwallex bills is the definition of a user. Airwallex counts a Spend user as any active employee cardholder, or anyone who submits, approves or pays a card expense or reimbursement, or submits, approves or pays a bill in the billing period. Approvers count. The controller who pays bills counts. A manager who never holds a card but approves expenses every month counts. That is a broader definition than most rivals use: Emburse Spend, for example, excludes approvers unless they submit an expense themselves.

Here is what that means for a typical US company. Take 25 people: 16 hold Airwallex cards, 4 managers approve expenses without holding a card, 2 people in finance approve and pay bills, and 3 employees file the odd mileage or reimbursement claim. On Airwallex that is 25 billable Spend users, which is past the 10 included on Explore, so the published path is Grow at 25 x $12 = $300 a month, or $3,600 a year, before the platform fee. Airwallex does not print the platform fee on its US pricing page, so ask for it in writing before you compare quotes, because it is the one line you cannot calculate yourself.

What you get for the money is clear on the pricing page. Explore covers business accounts, local transfers to 120+ countries, unlimited multi-currency corporate cards with zero international fees, up to 2% cash rebates on local USD spend, a credit line for cards, expense management, reimbursements, spend requests, bill pay with AI coding and batched bill payments, and bank feeds, expenses and bills synced with Xero and QuickBooks. Grow adds purchase orders and requests, late-submission policies with automatic card freezing, multi-conditional approvals, advanced expense automation, an AI expense policy agent, vendor approval workflows, rules-based bill automation, NetSuite and Dynamics 365 Business Central sync, HRIS integrations and single sign-on. Accelerate adds 3-way matching for goods receipts and invoices, a custom direct ERP Spend API integration, custom roles and up to 3 legal entities.

The transaction fees are where Airwallex earns its reputation. Currency conversions are priced at 0.5% above interbank rates for major currencies and 1% for all other currencies. Domestic USD and CAD transfers are free. SWIFT transfers to 200+ countries cost $15 to $25 per transfer, SHA or OUR. If you take card payments from your own customers through Airwallex, domestic cards are 2.8% + $0.30 and international cards 4.30% + $0.30. For a company that spends $10,000 a month in euros, a conversion at 0.5% over interbank works out to roughly $50 a month, against up to $300 at a card program with a 3% FX markup. For an importer, a SaaS company with overseas contractors or a team that travels abroad, that difference is the reason to look at Airwallex at all.

So is Airwallex the right expense tool? If you have 10 or fewer people who touch spend, keep your books in QuickBooks or Xero and pay vendors abroad, Explore at $0 is hard to beat and you should use it. The cost changes once approvers, bill payers and occasional claimants start counting, once you move to NetSuite (a Grow feature), or once you want expense policy and approvals to cover the US bank cards and Amex cards your team keeps alongside Airwallex. Airwallex controls the spend that runs on Airwallex. It does not read the receipt from a hotel charged to someone's own Amex.

That last case is where Expenditure fits. Expenditure is expense software that reads every receipt, codes it to your QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite chart of accounts, matches it to the card line, checks it against policy and flags duplicate subscriptions and price creep, on whatever cards and banks you already use, Airwallex included. It records the currency printed on each receipt, and you import card and bank statements as CSV, OFX or QFX from any issuer. Starter is $12 per seat per month billed annually ($24 monthly) from 3 seats, and Growth, which adds policy, approvals, budgets and NetSuite, is $21 billed annually from 3 seats. Many teams keep Airwallex for FX and global payouts and run expenses across every card in one place.

The honest limits. Expenditure does not issue cards, hold balances, convert currency or send payments, and it has no live bank connection: transactions come from the statement files your providers already let you download. It is software and insight, not financial, tax or accounting advice. Receipts and statements are encrypted, access is role based, and your financial data is never sold or used to train models.

Airwallex figures on this page were read on airwallex.com/us/pricing, including its footnotes and FAQ. Prices for other regions differ, and businesses that signed up before June 1, 2025 kept their transaction pricing and were placed on Explore on July 1, 2025.

Why it works

What to check before you sign an Airwallex quote

Count every approver

Airwallex bills anyone who submits, approves or pays an expense or bill in the month. List your approvers and bill payers before you count cardholders.

Get the platform fee in writing

Grow is $12 per active user plus a platform fee by team size that the US page does not print. It is the only line you cannot work out yourself.

Price the FX you actually do

At 0.5% over interbank for major currencies, the conversion fee is the reason to choose Airwallex. If almost all your spend is in USD, that advantage is small.

What it handles

A receipt in, a categorized line out, the waste flagged

Expenditure reads each receipt, categorizes it, checks it against your policy and rolls it into up-to-date spend, then surfaces the duplicate subscriptions and savings you are leaking.

  • Reads every receipt, including foreign ones, and records the currency printed on it
  • Codes each expense to your QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite chart of accounts
  • Matches receipts to Airwallex card lines and to every other card you import
  • Imports card and bank statements as CSV, OFX or QFX from any issuer
  • Checks expenses against policy by amount, vendor or GL account on Growth
  • Flags duplicate subscriptions, unused tools and price creep across all cards
  • Lists charges with no receipt before the month closes
  • Never moves, holds or converts your money

Why Expenditure

Receipts read, spend categorized, waste flagged

Not manual coding, not a stale spreadsheet. Expenditure reads each receipt, checks your policy, shows up-to-date spend, and flags the savings, all on the cards and banks you already have.

Read and categorized

Snap, forward or drop a receipt. The AI reads the vendor, amount, tax and line items, categorizes it and matches the card, in seconds.

Waste flagged

Duplicate and overlapping subscriptions, unused tools, price creep and out-of-policy spend, surfaced as expenses come in with the potential saving.

Secure and in your control

Bank-grade security, we never move or hold your money, and we never train on your data. Insights, not advice, your finance team decides.

Good questions

Questions about Airwallex pricing

Airwallex has three US plans. Explore is $0 per user per month with up to 10 Spend users, Grow is $12 per active Spend user per month plus a platform fee based on team size, and Accelerate is custom. FX, transfer and payment processing fees are charged on top of every plan.
The Explore plan has no monthly fee and includes up to 10 Spend users, unlimited multi-currency cards, expense management, bill pay and QuickBooks and Xero sync. It is not free to use, though: currency conversions cost 0.5% over interbank for major currencies and SWIFT transfers cost $15 to $25 each.
Explore has no monthly fee. Grow has a monthly fee of $12 per active Spend user plus a platform fee by team size, and Accelerate is quoted. Airwallex charges the monthly fee once per business legal entity, not per account, so several accounts under one entity pay one fee.
Beyond the plan price, Airwallex charges 0.5% above interbank for major currency conversions and 1% for other currencies, $15 to $25 per SWIFT transfer, and 2.8% + $0.30 on domestic cards and 4.30% + $0.30 on international cards if you accept payments. Domestic USD and CAD transfers are free.
It is a monthly charge on the Grow plan that Airwallex sets by team size, added to the $12 per active Spend user. Airwallex does not publish the amount on its US pricing page, so ask the sales team for it in writing and add it to the per-user total before you compare Grow with another tool.
Airwallex defines a Spend user as an active employee cardholder, or anyone who submits, approves or pays a card expense or reimbursement, or submits, approves or pays a bill in the billing period. Managers who only approve and finance staff who only pay bills are billable users.
Airwallex lists its multi-currency corporate cards with zero international fees. Converting money between currencies is priced at 0.5% above interbank rates for major currencies and 1% for all others. If you already hold the currency in your Airwallex account, no conversion is needed.
Yes. Airwallex publishes a US pricing page in USD with the Explore, Grow and Accelerate plans, USD yield, free domestic USD transfers and US card acceptance rates. Plans and prices differ by region, so a quote for an Australian or UK entity will not match the US figures.
Yes. On every plan Airwallex syncs bank feeds, expenses and bills with QuickBooks and Xero. NetSuite and Dynamics 365 Business Central sync starts on Grow, and a custom direct ERP Spend API integration is part of Accelerate.
On software, Ramp Free and Airwallex Explore are both $0, but Explore includes only 10 Spend users, and approvers and bill payers count toward them. For foreign spend Airwallex is usually cheaper, because its conversion is 0.5% over interbank for majors. Ramp Plus is $15 per user plus a platform fee, against $12 plus a platform fee on Grow.
It is good for expenses that run on Airwallex cards, with receipt matching, reimbursements and approvals included. It is weaker when your team also spends on US bank cards or Amex cards Airwallex does not see. That is the gap Expenditure covers, by reading receipts and statements from every card in one place.
Yes. Import the Airwallex card transactions as a CSV statement next to your other cards, and Expenditure matches each line to its receipt, codes it to your chart of accounts and flags what is missing. Airwallex keeps doing the FX and payments; Expenditure never moves or holds money.
