How expense management software turns every receipt into up-to-date spend

Add a receipt by photo, email or PDF, or import a statement from the cards you already use. Expenditure reads every field, categorizes it to the right GL account, checks it against policy, and rolls it into an up-to-date view of every dollar, with the savings it finds flagged for you.

Receipts in, categorized spend out

Expenditure reads the vendor, amount, date and tax, categorizes the expense, checks it against your policy, and rolls it into a up-to-date picture of every dollar, then flags the waste.

The path from receipt to up-to-date spend

Three steps from a receipt to an up-to-date view of every dollar

No manual data entry, no spreadsheet juggling, no waiting until month-end to find out where the money went. Add a receipt, and the rest happens for you.

1

Add receipts, or import statements from the cards you already have

Snap a photo of a paper receipt, forward an email receipt, or drop a PDF. Or upload the CSV, OFX or QFX statement your card or bank already exports, and every charge lands as an expense, matched to its receipt. There is no card to switch and no migration. Expenditure works with the cards and banks you already use, including Visa and Mastercard, and never moves or holds your money.

AI reads, categorizes and policy-checks every line

OCR extracts the vendor, amount, date, tax and line items. The AI categorizes the spend to the right GL account, matches it to the card charge, and checks it against your policy automatically. You stop keying numbers by hand and stop chasing receipts. Everything posts where it belongs, ready to export to QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite.

See up-to-date spend and the savings the AI flags

Every receipt and charge rolls into an up-to-date spend and budget view that re-balances as each receipt and statement comes in, across cards, vendors and subscriptions. The AI surfaces duplicate or overlapping subscriptions, tools nobody uses, price creep and real savings. These insights help your team decide. They are information, not financial, tax or accounting advice.

Up-to-date spend

Software spend this month is $42,180 across 31 vendors1, up 6% on price creep the AI flagged2.

Under the hood

What happens behind one receipt

It feels instant, but a lot happens in the seconds after you add a receipt. Here is the path every receipt takes, mirrored in the live worklog in the demo above.

  1. 1

    Reading the receipt

OCR scans the image, email or PDF and pulls out the vendor, amount, date, tax and line items, so nothing has to be keyed in by hand.

  2. 2

    Categorizing to a GL account

The AI assigns the spend to the right GL account based on the vendor and line items, ready to export to QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite.

  3. 3

    Matching the card charge

It matches the receipt to the matching charge on your existing card, so reconciliation happens as the money moves, not at month-end.

  4. 4

    Checking policy and updating spend

It checks the spend against your policy, flags anything off, and re-balances your spend and budget view across cards, vendors and subscriptions.

Why this matters

Up-to-date spend ends the guesswork, the savings pay for the software

Spend you cannot see until month-end is spend you cannot control, and a subscription nobody noticed is money out the door every month. Expenditure is built so neither stays true.

A spend view that is always current

Every receipt and card charge rolls into one up-to-date view that re-balances as the money moves, across cards, vendors and subscriptions. Finance, controllers and founders stop waiting for the spreadsheet and stop reconciling in a frantic week at month-end. Because the data is categorized and matched as it lands, the books close faster and the numbers are ready when you need them.

Savings the AI finds for you

Expenditure flags duplicate and overlapping subscriptions, tools nobody is using, price creep on renewals, and the savings hiding in your spend. You see what to cancel, what to renegotiate and where the money leaks, all in plain numbers. These insights are information to help your team decide. They are not financial, tax or accounting advice, and your data is never sold or used to train shared models.

Security is built in, not bolted on

Encryption in transit and at rest, statement import with no bank login, and a firm commitment that we never move your money and never train on your data. See exactly how it works.

Good questions

How expense management software works, in brief

You add a receipt the way that suits the moment. Snap a photo on your phone, forward the email receipt, or drop a PDF. Expenditure runs OCR on it, reads the vendor, amount, date, tax and line items, categorizes it to the right GL account, and matches it to the card charge. You review what it read, then it rolls into your up-to-date spend view.
No. Expenditure works with the cards and banks you already have. You upload the CSV or OFX statement your card or bank already exports and we reconcile the charges against your receipts, with no card switch, no bank login and no migration. We support Visa and Mastercard, and export to QuickBooks, Xero and NetSuite.
No. Expenditure does not connect to card or bank accounts and there is no live transaction feed. You download the statement your card or bank already offers (CSV, OFX or QFX), upload it under Import statement in your workspace, and every charge becomes an expense matched to its receipt. Receipts you capture are read by OCR and categorized straight away.
No. Expenditure is software and insight. We never move or hold your money. Expenditure has no cards or payments of its own, and your existing cards and banks keep doing what they already do. We read the charges, categorize them, and show you where every dollar goes.
No. The software and the insights it surfaces, including duplicate subscriptions, unused tools and savings flags, are information to help your team decide, not financial, tax or accounting advice. Your data is kept bank-grade secure, is never sold, and is never used to train shared models.

Add a receipt, see every dollar as expenses come in.

OCR reads it, the AI categorizes and policy-checks it, your spend view re-balances, and the savings get flagged. Works with the cards you already have, and we never move your money.
