Ramp vs Melio pricing comes down to how you pay your vendors. Ramp Bill Pay has a free tier with no monthly software fee and charges $0.59 per standard ACH payment and $1.99 per check. Melio charges a monthly plan instead: Go is free for one user, Core is $25 a month, Boost $55 and Unlimited $80, with 5, 20, 50 or unlimited free ACH payments and $0.50 per ACH after that. For a three-person AP team paying about 60 bills a month, Ramp Free comes to roughly $49 a month in payment fees and Melio Core to about $66 billed annually. Ramp wins on price if you can live without NetSuite. Melio wins if you want to pay by card where vendors do not accept cards.
Both pricing pages were read on October 24, 2026 (ramp.com/pricing, ramp.com/bill-pay and melio.com/pricing). Melio has been part of Xero since Xero completed the acquisition on October 15, 2025, but it still sells its own US plans and syncs with QuickBooks Online as well as Xero.

Is Ramp cheaper than Melio?
Yes, for most small teams on QuickBooks Online or Xero. Ramp charges nothing for the software on its Free plan and only charges per payment, so a team paying 60 bills a month spends about $49 in fees, or less when paying from a Ramp Checking Account. Melio Core costs at least $20 a month billed annually before any fees. Melio becomes cheaper once you pay many checks or need its free ACH allowance.
The crossover depends on your payment mix more than your headcount. Melio's check is $1.50 against Ramp's $1.99, and Melio Boost gives you 50 ACH payments a month with no per-payment fee. A team that mails 40 checks a month saves about $20 on Melio's check fee alone, which is most of the Core subscription.
What a three-person AP team pays each month
Here is the model. A US company with three people in payables (a bookkeeper who enters bills, an approver and the owner who releases payment), on QuickBooks Online, paying 50 vendors by standard ACH and 10 by mailed check every month. Plans are priced as published, annual billing where the vendor offers it.
| Option | Software | Payment fees | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ramp Free | $0 | 50 x $0.59 + 10 x $1.99 = $49.40 | $49.40 (less from a Ramp Checking Account) |
| Melio Core, annual | $20 + 2 x $8 = $36 | 30 ACH over the 20 free x $0.50 + 10 x $1.50 = $30 | $66 |
| Melio Boost, annual | $44 + 2 x $8 = $60 | 50 free ACH + 10 x $1.50 = $15 | $75 |
| Melio Unlimited, annual | $64 | Unlimited free ACH + 10 x $1.50 = $15 | $79 |
| BILL Team | 3 x $65 = $195 | $49.40 | $244.40 |
| Expenditure Growth plus your bank | 3 seats x $21 = $63, billed yearly | Whatever your bank charges for ACH and checks | $63 plus bank fees |
Melio's monthly prices without annual billing are $25, $55 and $80, and extra users are $10 rather than $8, which adds $9 to $15 a month to each Melio line. Ramp Plus, if you need it, is $15 per user a month for three people ($45, or $36 billed annually) plus a platform fee Ramp sets by team size and does not publish.
Does Melio integrate with NetSuite?
Yes, but only on the Unlimited plan, which is $80 a month or $64 billed annually with unlimited users and unlimited free ACH payments. Core and Boost sync with QuickBooks Online and Xero, and Boost adds QuickBooks Desktop. Ramp puts NetSuite and Sage Intacct on Plus, at $15 per user a month plus a platform fee. For a NetSuite company with ten AP users, Melio Unlimited is usually the cheaper of the two.
That makes NetSuite the one line that can flip the comparison. Ten Ramp Plus users cost $150 a month before the platform fee, or $120 billed annually, against a flat $64 to $80 on Melio Unlimited. If your company is on NetSuite and pays most bills by ACH, price Melio Unlimited first. BILL lists NetSuite sync only on its custom-priced Enterprise plan, and we priced that against Tipalti on our Tipalti vs Bill.com pricing page.
What is the difference between Ramp and Melio?
Ramp is a corporate card and spend platform that added bill pay, so the bill pay software is free and Ramp earns on card interchange and payment fees. Melio is a bill pay and invoicing product that charges a monthly plan and earns on payment fees above the free allowance. Ramp gives you cards and expense management in the same account. Melio lets you pay any bill by credit card for 2.9%.
The card point matters more than it sounds. Paying a vendor by card when that vendor only accepts ACH or checks is Melio's signature feature: you pay 2.9%, Melio sends the vendor a bank transfer or check, and your card's payment terms and rewards stay with you. On the other side, Ramp issues unlimited virtual and physical cards to employees with spend limits, which Melio does not do.
Is Melio free?
Melio Go is free forever for one user, with 5 free ACH payments a month and $0.50 per ACH payment after that. It includes card payments, AI bill capture and a bills inbox, but not QuickBooks Online or Xero sync, which start on Core at $25 a month or $20 billed annually. Paid plans are free for the first 90 days.
Is Ramp bill pay really free?
The software is. Ramp's Free plan has no monthly fee for bill pay, and Ramp's bill pay page lists the per-payment charges: $0.59 for standard ACH, $1.99 for a standard check, $10 for same-day ACH, $15 for a domestic wire and $20 for an international USD wire, with overnight checks at $20 and check attachments at $1 a page. Eligible fees are waived when you pay from a Ramp Checking Account, except overnight checks and attachments.
To open Ramp you also need a business that qualifies for the Ramp card. Its help center asks for a US corporation, LLC or LP with an EIN and at least $25,000 in a US business bank account. Sole proprietors and very new companies often do not qualify, and Melio's free Go plan is the easier place for them to start.
Which is better for a small business, Ramp or Melio?
Melio is better for a small business that mainly needs to pay and get paid: it has a free single-user plan, cheaper checks, free invoicing and card payments to any vendor. Ramp is better for a company that also wants employee cards, expense reports and approvals in one place, and that qualifies for the Ramp card. Teams on NetSuite usually pay less on Melio Unlimited.
Before you move any vendor payments, set up the vendor records properly. Both tools collect W-9s and validate TINs for 1099 filing, Melio through its Tax1099 sync and Ramp at $0.65 per IRS filing. Contractors who come on site usually owe you a certificate of insurance as well, and if you onboard a lot of them, certificate of insurance tracking software keeps those expiry dates from slipping between renewals.
What neither price list covers
Both products price the payment. The hours in accounts payable go somewhere else: reading each invoice, coding every line to the right GL account and class, chasing the approver, then fixing what lands wrong in QuickBooks. Melio's AI bill capture and Ramp's invoice OCR do the reading. The coding and the receipts for the card side still land on somebody's desk.
That is the part Expenditure does. It reads supplier invoices and receipts at line level, codes each one to your QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite chart of accounts, flags duplicate invoices before they post, routes approval on Growth and exports a clean, import-ready file. It works with the bank, cards and bill pay you already use, including Ramp or Melio, and it never moves or holds your money. Growth costs $21 per seat a month billed yearly from three seats. Our accounts payable software page walks through the invoice workflow, and invoice approval software covers the approval rules.
If you are still choosing a payments platform, three other comparisons help: Ramp pricing covers Plus and the platform fee in detail, bill pay fees compared lines up ACH, check and wire charges across more vendors, AP automation cost adds a 250-bill month, and Bill.com competitors covers Melio, Ramp, Tipalti and Stampli against BILL. This is software and pricing information, not financial, tax or accounting advice.
